April 28, 2016.  On this date, a member of the executive team of First Republic spoke to the students of the University of San Francisco about banking.  Unfortunately, we were asked by the bank to remove this video after the collapse of First Republic bank and the takeover by J.P. Morgan.  I hope to bring future guest speakers to help illuminate the problems in banking, bank runs, and with maturity transformation management.

Mr. Tourre was involved in the structuring of the famous Abacus CDO that was shorted by hedge fund manager, John Paulson. After the financial crisis of 2008, the SEC brought a suit against Goldman Sachs and Tourre for misrepresentation on the Abacus CDO. Goldman Sachs settled the case for $550 million in 2010.
